Buddy is the most easygoing, gentle senior who loves to nap and snuggle. He rarely barks, travels well in the car, doesn't resource guard plus is good with other dogs and probably all other animals. He has a bit of separation anxiety but it is improving all the time. Buddy would be perfect for an attached home, like an apartment, since he's a quiet peanut who has no reaction to being picked up and carried. With regards to children, he would be best suited to a home with those who have proper expectations of his size and age.

Buddy was in rough shape when he arrived and consequently had to have his left eye removed due to infection and had many teeth removed because of neglect. He is slowly getting used to navigating his surroundings with the change in sight, but is doing very well. It's not surprising that he startles when people, other animals or things come from his left side. Potential adopters need to commit to his future dental hygiene, as the few remaining teeth he has may have to be pulled at some point. Because Buddy has just a few teeth, he has been on canned food, which he loves. The vet said over time his gums will toughen up to eat kibble.

Buddy doesn't particularly like to go on walks, but it's hard to say if that's because of the weather or his change in eyesight or if he hasn't done it much or if he simply doesn't like it. He is more willing to walk if he wears his warm coat and you stay on his right side where he can easily see you, but he tends to weave back and forth, forward and behind so you have to be aware that he doesn't get caught up in your feet!

Buddy hates the cold. This nugget came from California, so is still learning how to handle the weather. He is house trained but doesn't like to do his business in the cold and has had a few accidents lately. With some treats and encouragement plus short frequent outside visits, he's improving. Buddy rarely signals that he needs to go out but he does start wandering around quite a bit which makes it easy to recognize.

Buddy doesn't like the crate or being contained so he sleeps in his dog bed in the family room at night and is left open in the house when alone. He doesn't care for stairs, but can easily do them if necessary, and will only venture if he's hungry or left alone too long. Buddy sleeps through the night almost all the time, especially when he's gone potty before bed.

Buddy is a fabulous little dude who needs a calm home where he can enjoy long morning naps, snuggles on the couch and share unconditional love the rest of his days. He will quickly warm your heart with his tiny nose and gentle nature.

Buddy is being fostered in Calgary.
