Deb

Adopted

Description

Female, 1 year, mixed breed, 31 lbs

Don’t let those intense little eyes fool you, Deb is the biggest sweetheart and the most gentle little soul. Deb is what I would call an “easy” dog: She is a nice medium size who is treat motivated (so easy to train), quiet and laid back in the house, a velcro dog (so she stays close), friendly to all people and other dogs, walks well on leash, and can be left alone to roam the house with no destructive behaviours. Deb just wants to be loved and give so much love in return. Her future adoptive parents will quickly realize they’ve hit the jackpot with this little one! Deb would do well in an active home with a yard, and would make a great running, hiking or adventure buddy (road trips!). She craves companionship, so would not do well in a home where she is frequently left for long periods of time by herself. She would also love to have another furry friend in the house to shadow and help her with her confidence.

House Training: She’s a pro! No issues at all.

Activity Level: Moderate to High. Requires at least 1 hr of exercise a day. She is a lean and agile little thing who loves going for runs. She would be a great hiking or adventure buddy, and would do well in agility classes.

Other dogs: Loves loves loves! She loves meeting other dogs and following her foster bro around at home. She would do well in a home with another furry companion as she is a submissive gal.

Children: She is anxious around a lot of noise (although I think this will improve with time), so a home with school aged kids who can respect her boundaries would be best.

Cats: Unsure. She does like to chase squirrels, and has shown interest in chasing when a cat passes by outside.

Kenneling: She will go into her kennel on her own and take a nap. We have not begun shutting the door or kennelling when we leave the house as her foster bro is not kennelled.

Likes: All the belly rubs and affection, treats, car rides, running, chew bones, a soft bed, snuggles, being called a good girl.

Dislikes: Loud noises (although she is getting better as she becomes more used to her environment).

Things to work on: Jumping up on people and basic commands (she has learned “sit,” “come” and is working on “stay” at present).

Cute little quirks: She loves to come up to you and nuzzle your face or under your arm. She also “primes” her tail to wag if she sees you coming into a room and the second you look at her, that tail starts going. She sometimes does the softest and cutest little “awhoo” if she wants a belly rub or doesn’t want it to stop.

Deb is being fostered in Calgary.

Adoption costs: $600.00
