Meet Pip 💙🐾 Arriving on October 31, 2026.
Pip is a 1-year-old, 35 lb Pit Bull mix with a striking look, a big personality, and an even bigger love for her people. She is deaf, active, playful, affectionate, and looking for an experienced home that can give her the structure, consistency, and outlets she needs to thrive.
Pip absolutely loves people and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. She can be selective about who she feels comfortable with, so introductions to new people should be calm, controlled, and taken at her pace. Once you’re one of Pip’s people, she wants all the love and attention you have to give!
She is a high-energy girl who can become overstimulated and may get jumpy or mouthy when she’s excited. Pip will do best with a family committed to keeping both her body and her brain busy through walks, training, puzzle feeders, scent games, and other structured activities. She responds best to positive, reward-based training.
🐶 Other dogs: Pip enjoys other dogs and can be playful and enthusiastic with them. Appropriate introductions with any resident dogs will be important.
👧 Children: Pip requires a home with no children under 15 years old. Older children should be comfortable following boundaries and interacting calmly and respectfully with dogs.
👂 Deaf: Pip’s deafness certainly doesn’t slow her down! Because she cannot hear what is happening around her, unexpected movements or handling can sometimes startle or frighten her. She will benefit from a predictable routine, consistent visual communication, and a family willing to learn how to communicate effectively with a deaf dog.
💕 Resource guarding: Pip can guard the attention and affection of people she has bonded closely with. Her future family will need to establish clear boundaries, recognize her body language, and continue working on this behaviour. Muzzle training is also recommended, particularly for introductions to new people.
📌 Bite history: Pip does have a minor bite incident in her history. She became tangled in leashes, and when someone attempted to untangle her, she became frightened and reacted by putting her mouth on both hands. Because Pip is deaf, situations where she is unexpectedly handled or startled can be particularly scary for her. No skin was broken during the incident. Understanding her body language, giving her space when she becomes uncomfortable, and using calm, thoughtful handling will be important moving forward.
Pip isn’t looking for just any home. She needs someone patient, confident, and willing to put in the work to help her succeed. In return, you’ll get a fun-loving, affectionate, active girl who adores her people and has so much potential with the right guidance.
For the right family, Pip could be an incredibly rewarding companion. ❤️
