At 60 lbs. of handsome, Topaz is a sweet, loyal boy with the most beautiful light blue eyes you've ever seen. He's curious, playful, laidback and ready to explore the world around him.

Topaz would make a wonderful playmate for a similarly sized dog who enjoys a good romp. He and our similarly sized dog have rounds of running, playing and roughhousing, with well deserved couch naps in between. He loves toys, although they need to be tough. He has had no issues sharing toys. He is a big fan of chews too!

He sits nicely beside his dog friends when it's treat time and has shown no signs of aggression in these moments. He has exhibited some resource guarding (growling) around his food bowl, if another dog gets too close. So this is an area his future family will need to continue to work on with him. A slow feeding bowl is a must because this boy can inhale his meals.

One of Topaz's loveliest qualities is how much he loves his humans. While cooking in the kitchen he lies nearby watching. When going for bathroom breaks he will follow along (because privacy is overrated apparently!) He is so happy to see his people when they come home. He may jump up to greet you but he does so quite gently for a big boy.

Topaz was not a fan of his kennel or sleeping away from us. He has settled into a bedtime routine in which he follows us to the bedroom and flops in his dog bed where he remains until morning. He does love to come up on the bed for morning cuddles before we begin our day.

He is fully housetrained.
He knows his name.

He does enjoy a daily walk. He's curious, alert and eager to discover what is around him. He generally only pulls if something particularly interesting catches his nose.

Topaz was calm in the car but did experience some carsickness coming from BARCS. With more experience, time to settle in, and not being locked in the kennel, hopefully car rides will become easier for him.

He's looking for a family who will appreciate his playful spirit, enjoy daily adventures, and continue helping him learn and grow. He would do well with an similar sized canine buddy or as an only dog whose human gives him all the attention. If you are looking for a best friend who can keep you company, make you laugh, and remind you how wonderful it is to be loved by a dog, Topaz might just be your guy.
