Honky Tonk is an extremely happy dog, with a tail that’s always in motion. He is practically the definition of a "velcro dog" and will be your loyal shadow around the house, completely unfazed even by the sound of the vacuum. He is fully potty trained, incredibly food-motivated, and a fast learner who has already mastered "sit," "down," and his breakfast and dinner routines. While he hasn't quite figured out how to use toys yet, he makes up for it with his love of snuggling. He recently discovered belly rubs and will give a little "huff" or use his voice to let you know if you stop petting him too soon. He is a brave boy who was an absolute star at the vet and calmly allows his foster family to tend to a "booboo" on his paw.
As he continues to settle in, Honky Tonk does have a few areas where he needs a patient leader. On the leash, his excitement for seeing other dogs, cats, or bunnies tends to get the best of him and leads to some pulling and barking, and he finds nighttime walks a little bit stressful. Because he is so social, we believe he would thrive with a sibling (human or patient dog!) who could show him the ropes. He is a work-in-progress during car rides, where he can be restless before eventually settling down with some reassurance. Honky Tonk is still getting used to his crate, but is improving each night. He would love nothing more than to spend all day napping at your feet and will likely need a home where someone is around often.
