Honky Tonk is an extremely happy dog, with a tail that’s always in motion. He is practically the definition of a "velcro dog" and will be your loyal shadow around the house, completely unfazed even by the sound of the vacuum. He is fully house trained, incredibly food-motivated, and a fast learner who has already mastered "sit," "stay," "lay down," "come," "up," "off," and "gentle." He knows his breakfast and dinner routines and will quietly wait in his crate for his meals.

Honky Tonk is slowly becoming more interested in toys, but generally play time turns into cuddles. He loves to wiggle his entire body right into your lap and will give a little "huff" or nudge you with his nose if you stop petting him too soon.

Honky Tonk is still getting used to his crate. He often chooses to relax in his crate for daytime naps (he takes plenty of them!), but we're still working on helping him feel safe when the door is closed for an extended period of time, especially when he can't see his people. While he sometimes whines or barks for the first few minutes when you walk out the door, we have found he calms down way faster with the right TV show. HGTV to be specific. Seriously. We have tried everything, and HGTV is officially his favorite. Put on some home renovations, and he’s ready to relax!

Honky Tonk has made fast progress on leash, his excitement for seeing cats or bunnies no longer leads to barking or pulling. He will now sit quietly until re-directed with a "let's go." He loves making friends with other dogs, and now only tends to pull if he believes his playtime was prematurely interrupted. He is generally quiet, but will bark if another dog speaks to him first (or if he smells something truly delicious, like the neighbours BBQing hot dogs). He has also now decided car rides aren't so scary now that he has figured out how to see out the window.

Honky Tonk is also a very brave boy! While he gets a little nervous around a few "interesting" things (bees, bridges, garbage trucks, and a stuffed koala we found once) he is easily persuaded with a treat to face his fears.

The ideal home for Honky Tonk would be one where he can be involved in family activities or one where someone is home often. He would love nothing more than to spend all day with his people.
