Bio: Nash is a super sweet, cuddly young boy who will just melt into you for cuddles and rest his head on your shoulder. He finds the outside a world very exciting place, sometimes even a bit overwhelming, and is very interested to stop and watch anything that moves (people, cars, critters, dogs etc.). However, he is a very brave boy who is quite easily convinced to explore different places or keep moving on a walk with some treats and words of encouragement. In the house, he is quite happy to snooze nearby his humans for most of the day, as long as he gets walks/playtime/training breaks in between his naps! He has even learned to lay quietly by the door while his human gets ready for outside time! He does get a little excited after walks/outside time (especially evening walks), with some zoomies and mouthiness, but really wants to please and learning how to redirect his mouth onto toys, use enrichment toys with some crate time to help him settle. He has alot to learn, but he is very willing, and responds well to corrections when needed and being shown what is expected of him.
Other things to know:
- He can be abit mouthy with handling (e.g. putting the hardness on) and when he gets excited, but does well taking it slow and trading kibbles for not mouthing.
- He absolutely LOVES chasing things (a flirt pole type toy has been a huge hit!) and chewing on his toys (he is learning what is appropriate to chew and generally picks up on this fast)
- Not tested with other pets (seems interested in dogs but slightly nervous from a distance), he does have a decent prey drive for anything small that moves though
- Not tested with children (likely good with older children, he loves every human he has met so far but does get excited can be jumpy, and in spaces he’s comfortable a bit mouthy)
-Medical: He does seem to be a bit itchy
- Crate trained: In progress! He is up to 12 minutes twice a day for meals, plus quite time with things to chew (with company in the house).
- Non-destructive when left on his own (in his space) for up to ~2.5-3 hours so far.
- House trained: Yes
- Barking: Mostly quiet, will bark in play/overstimulation or at something super exciting like a rabbit through the window
- He is a good boy in the car, and settles down once you are moving/ after ~ 10minutes or so
-Not a fan of water or bathes, but was a good boy for his bath with lots of treats and taking our time through the washing/water parts.
-He is an eager and fast learner. He is learning how to sit & stay, lay down, touch, look, and come. He recalls well (on leash, sometimes with abit of encouragement) off of distractions including dogs and critters (e.g. rabbit or squirrel). He walks pretty well on the leash, and doesn’t pull much except for when he sees rabbits or squirrels.
