Meet Tex: The 75-Pound "Lapdog" of Your Dreams! 🐾
Are you looking for a fluffy shadow? A walking teddy bear? A giant muppet who genuinely believes he is the size of a teacup Chihuahua? Look no further. Tex is a one-year-old male Sheepadoodle who is ready to bring his massive heart (and massive fluff) into a forever home.
Tex had a rough start to life before being rescued and brought to Canada, but he hasn't let his past dim his shine. He is currently living his absolute best life with his foster family in Okotoks, AB, and he’s ready to make the leap to a permanent couch.
The Good, The Fluffy, and The Fabulous
World-Class Snuggler: Tex loves his people fiercely. He will actively climb into your lap for cuddles. Do your legs go numb? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely.
Social Butterfly: He absolutely loves kids and other dogs! In fact, he would love a home with a canine sibling to wrestle and play with.
Car Ride Enthusiast: Looking for a co-pilot? Tex is fantastic in the car and always ready for an adventure.
Grooming King: Let’s be real—doodle hair is a lifestyle. Tex is a bit of a diva and requires regular grooming. But here is the jackpot: he enjoys the bath and loves being brushed! If you want him soft and fluffy, a quality shampoo and conditioner routine is a must. He's worth every ounce of product.
His Work-in-Progress Quirks
Tex is still a young pup learning the ropes, and he has a couple of hilarious (and totally manageable) quirks:
The Tex-Mex Introduction Policy 🛑👋
Because Tex’s early life before arriving in Canada was a bit of a villain origin story (he suffered some abuse), he can be a little sensitive about his origin story. He’s safe now, but he still needs to know you’re one of the good guys!
To get on his good side, Tex requires the "Slow & Steady" VIP treatment.
How to win his heart: No sudden movements, no rushing his personal bubble, and absolutely no aggressive high-fives right off the bat. Think of him like a high-profile celebrity avoiding the paparazzi—keep introductions calm, cool, and collected. Once he realizes you're safe and packing treats, he will fast-track you to his "Inner Circle of Snuggles" in no time.
🦮 The "Sled Dog" Impersonation: > Tex gets so excited to go for walks that he tends to pull on the leash. He’s just enthusiastic about life, but he will need a family committed to continuing his loose-leash training.
🛹 The Wheels of Terror: > Bikes, scooters, and skateboards are Tex’s kryptonite. They scare him, but he’s a good boy who redirects easily! Currently, his foster family plays the "step aside and watch" game. You just stand to the side, let the scary wheels pass, and Tex is happy to trot along on his merry way.
The Ideal Match
Tex is looking for an active, loving family that won't mind a giant fluffball overtaking their personal space. A home with another dog to play with and a family ready to commit to his grooming regime and ongoing training would be his absolute paradise.
