đź’› Meet Norman Bates

If you’re looking for a ray of sunshine to brighten up your life, you’ve found him! Norman is large in size and in heart. He is a Great Dane/Pitbull mix, and at about a year old (give or take), he’s still growing into his body and learning how to be graceful with his very long legs.

Although he isn’t aware of his size yet, that doesn’t stop him from always making sure to be gentle - no matter how crazy he’s feeling! He gets the zoomies with my dogs the majority of the times they go outside, which he then follows with a nap every time.

He absolutely adores my two dogs, as well as the cat, and would be best suited in a home where he has another large friend to play with. He is very popular at the dog park already and gets along with everyone!

🏠 Home Life

He is becoming more vocal as he settles into my home, and his whining makes it clear that he does not like to be left in his kennel at night. He prefers to sleep with his humans in bed and show you how small he can make himself!

He will occasionally wake me up in the night to go outside and knows very well that the house is not the place to use the bathroom. He’s never had an accident - even when left in his crate for eight hours on a few occasions.

I have yet to let him free roam the house when no one is home, as he is still a puppy and doesn’t have much training other than some basics such as his name, sit, and come.

🍖 Training & Behavior

Norman loves treats and pretty much anything edible! I typically put a little bit of peanut butter in his Kong to distract him when I leave for extended periods of time, and he goes straight into his kennel and stays quiet.

He sometimes jumps out of excitement when you first walk in the door or when he comes inside after being out for a while, but as mentioned, he always tries his best to contain himself and is easily redirected.

If he doesn’t have a toy when I enter the house, he also likes to hold my arm in his mouth and sometimes nibble on my sleeves or pant legs - in a very polite way, LOL.

Norman loves to share. He sometimes tries to steal toys out of my dogs’ mouths, and although he is always nice and gentle, this is something I’ve been trying to discourage, as I’m sure some dogs don’t appreciate it as much as mine do. He just really likes to play!

🚶‍♂️ Adventures

He does amazing in the car and is always excited for a new adventure. Another thing we’ve been working on is his leash manners. When he pulls, it’s very manageable and usually only happens for the first few minutes of a walk. He walks really well the majority of the time and has been great with all of the kids, other dogs, and people he’s met.

❤️ In Summary

Norman has nothing but love to give and brings smiles to everyone he encounters. He is so well-behaved for a pup with such a rocky start. Whoever ends up with this silly boy doesn’t know how lucky they are!
