š¾ Meet Blake š¾
Blake is the biggest, sweetest chicken Iāve ever met. With some time to feel safe and figure out āhow to dog,ā heās going to thrive. He still has plenty of puppy energy and is learning the ropes of living in a home, but he is so loving and ready to be part of a family.
š Things He Loves
Chewing: Blake needs bones, stuffies, and activitiesāotherwise, you may find yourself wrestling your headphones and shoes away from him! Heās learning whatās acceptable to chew and what isnāt.
Food: Separate from chewing for fun, Blake takes his nutrition very seriously. If he thinks heās not getting enoughāor sees an opportunity for an extra snackāheās on it. Since arriving, heās gained some much-needed weight, and with time and training, his snack obsession should settle.
People: Blake loves being close to his humans. He has been known to leap baby gates like a spotted kangaroo just to stay involved in whateverās happening on the other side. Heās also tested his crate for weak spots, but while he has escape-artist tendencies, he does settle in well overall.
š Things He Doesnāt Love
Being alone: He settles better with a doggy companionāhaving another foster around (Martina) has helped a lot. He takes cues from her and relaxes more easily if crated beside her.
Going outside alone: Blake views potty breaks as a team activity. He only does his business in the backyard, and he needs supervision and reminders since he doesnāt yet signal when he has to go. As long as youāre on top of it, he hasnāt had accidents in the house. Walks can overwhelm him, but heās making progress.
š¶ Blakeās Personality & Ideal Home
Blake is quirky, funny, and full of love. He needs patience and understanding as he adjusts to having a home and learning the rules, but heās eager to learn and thrilled to be part of everything.
Energy level: Medium. He enjoys bursts of playful energy and loves 2ā3 short walks a day. Heās also content to snooze in the sun with a bone. With time, heāll likely enjoy longer outings, too.
Other dogs: Great with them, and would probably benefit from having a dog friend to show him the ropes.
Kids: Wonderful with childrenāheās gentle and respectful with the kids in his foster home (ages 1 and 7). The baby even shares her snacks with him, which makes them instant best friends!
Cats: Shows curiosity on walks, but more interest than chase.
⨠Blake will be your best friend, make you laugh, and keep you on your toes. He just needs love, patience, and consistency to blossom into the amazing dog heās meant to be.
