Meet Lanny – a Gentle Soul Finding His Way

Lanny is a 4-year-old Beagle who was rescued from a laboratory testing facility. When he first arrived, he was very shut down and spent his first week mostly sleeping as he began to decompress.

Over the past month, Lanny has slowly been learning that he doesn’t have to fear everything—especially people. He loves sleeping in his crate with a soft blanket, which has become his safe space. With the door open, he will relax there for hours. Recently, he’s discovered that the couch is also a safe and cozy spot and has started joining his foster family there to relax.

Lanny is still quite anxious and fearful of loud noises and sudden movements. Some days he handles things well; other days he needs a little more time and reassurance. He’s making small steps every day.

He hasn’t had any formal training and isn’t fully housebroken yet, but with the help of a belly band, he’s had only a few accidents indoors. He knows his name and where his crate is but hasn’t developed any other skills or had experience walking on a leash yet.

Lanny does well with his two larger foster siblings and has started to socialize and play more, though he sometimes gets frustrated being the smaller one. He loves soft plush toys and often stashes them in his crate along with his blanket to make a cozy nest. Like any good Beagle, he also loves to sniff and explore.

This sweet boy enjoys relaxing and cuddling on the couch while watching TV. His foster home has only adults, so we’re not sure how he would do with children—especially in a noisy, high-energy environment.

Lanny has so much love to give and needs a calm, patient home with lower to moderate energy. He’s looking for someone who understands his need to go at his own pace and can give him the support and kindness he deserves after such a difficult start to life.
