Willow is a sweet and goofy 1-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix full of spunk and curiosity. She is looking for a patient, caring family who can help her continue to build confidence and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place after all.
Willow is currently living with an older dog who’s showing her the ropes and teaching her how to be a dog! She’s also sharing her home with a dog-savvy cat—she’s very interested in this roommate and would love to cuddle and play, but we’re not sure the cat is on board just yet!
She’s already mastered “sit” and “lie down,” and while her recall is still a work in progress, her love of treats is making training much easier. Sudden movements can still make her nervous, so a gentle, understanding approach is key as she continues to grow and learn.
Willow is a dream on leash and really enjoys her walks. She will pause if something or someone is on her path and makes her unsure. However, she loves to run and would be a fantastic jogging buddy!
She is still a little hesitant about a vehicle but once in, she puts her nose out the window and watches the world go by and smells all the smells! Hopefully she will quickly learn that a car brings fun adventures and will jump in on her own one day!
If left to her own devices outside, you will find her tossing her stuffies in the air, playing tag with her foster brother, or lounging on the patio soaking up the sun. Inside, she’s all about comfort—soft couches and cozy beds are her go-to spots. If you’re looking for a snuggle buddy for your next Netflix marathon, Willow’s your girl.
Willow came into BARCs’ care after a tangle with a porcupine, so she may need occasional checkups or follow-up care for quills, but she’s currently not on any medication—unless you count the ones needed for scary vet visits!
With a little patience and a lot of love, Willow will make a loyal, playful, and cuddly addition to the right family.
