As Mountie’s foster, I cannot believe how lucky I’ve been to get such an awesome pup! This short stack is fully house-trained, knows a bunch of commands, and has gotten along with all the dogs he’s met—regardless of play style.
Mountie is a very calm and well-rounded young dog. He loves nothing more than to be near you and will follow you around everywhere. He has not had any accidents in the house but is currently let out at least three times a day: morning, lunch, and evening. He can sit, shake a paw, lie down, and wait patiently for food or to come out of his crate.
He sleeps very calmly in his crate in your bedroom all night and has recently been allowed to sleep on the main floor with his foster chihuahua siblings.
As chill and easygoing as Mountie is, he also loves a good play session when given the opportunity! He’s recently discovered a love for squeaky toys and playing fetch, and he’ll match the energy of the dog he’s with. He plays more roughly with our pitty mix and is very gentle and respectful with our chihuahuas.
Mountie would love to have another dog to hang out with, as it helps ease some of his mild separation anxiety. While he does get a little anxious for the first few minutes after his humans leave, he’s learning fast that he has nothing to worry about and relaxes after a couple of minutes (as seen on the spy cam). He can be quite vocal when someone comes to the door until he’s had a chance to go up and smell them, but he’s very quiet in the yard and just enjoys hanging out outside when the weather is nice.
He hasn’t been tested with cats or kids, but I suspect he would do amazing with both given his gentle temperament. Walking on leash is pretty good—he pulls a little because he wants to sniff everything, but he’s quite easily redirected.
You’ll never have to worry about leaving shoes or toys out, as he doesn’t try to chew on anything.
I haven’t had much opportunity to test Mountie in the car, but he is a bit of a whiner if he can’t be near you. He whined on the ride home from picking him up.
Mountie loves to burrow under a blanket and cuddle up to his humans on the couch. He is truly the sweetest, most gentle soul!
