Canoe is the sweetest girl. She is pretty sure she is a lap dog and is very gentle in her efforts to convince you of such as well. She loves attention, snacks, and naps. So far, she can be a little timid - but she's settling in nicely.
She does great on the leash, as long as you give her grace to sniff as she goes. If dogs bark while we're out, she tends to whine but also would like very much to play with them. She's done well with the dogs she's been introduced to so far and would probably do well with another dog in the home. She wants to be our cat's friend very badly as well but respects his boundaries when he tells her to back off. She'd do fine in a house with other cats. She also loves kids - and is very tolerant of and gentle with our one-year-old.
She has no issues sleeping in her crate at night and we are working on her separation anxiety with some daytime crate training as well.
She doesn't bark much when we're home with her but will cry and whine if she is left alone. As she settles in - she's been getting better with this already though.
She does great in the car, but will need to be crated or tethered because, again, she's pretty sure she's a lap dog and can ride up front with you.
Canoe's ideal home is one with people who want to pet her. If there's good napping surfaces, that's a bonus. Her energy levels are quite low; she likes to take a couple of short walks a day and then is happy to supervise the goings on in the house. She likes fetch and is happy to chew on her bones during lounge time. She isn't overly needy but is always happy to get attention. She's truly wonderful and will likely thrive in any home.
