Cohen is a 5 yo neutered male Corgi mix. Like a Corgi with German Shepherd fur.
- disposition- sweet, playful, affectionate, curious , a bit stubborn, a bit protective of the house
-Loves walks and manages the leash very well, can be quite vocal if sees other larger dogs. Would do well with slow introductions - especially since at the core , he is a social boy and loves to play with a ball or his favourite indestructible chew toy.
-Thrives with structure and routine, 2-3 short or 1-2 longer walks . Doesn’t love kibble but eats it- loves treats and is very interested in human food. Redirectable to his bed or crate during mealtimes.
-does well in the crate - doesn’t love it but he tolerates at night , and for 3-4 hour stretches during some days. Used to me being home most of day with 3 -4 hour stretches away from home.
- we haven’t been in the car much , but think he would do ok- if in crate.
- was given a toothbrush and paste at pick up on March 16 but have not been super successful
With brushing yet, working on short exposures to increase his tolerance - is fine with me checking his teeth and mouth
-would do well with another small to medium sized dog or cat (though not tested) in home to be a playmate. He fit beautifully into our home but definitely loved to be with us most times.
-have not tried with younger children (I have two teenagers) and occasionally with play can get a bit mouthy - so this would require more training.
- summary- sweet loving affectionate confidant boy who would do well with a playmate ;he could work on increasing time on his own, and redirection strategies when he is protecting the house ( can be a bit barky at times). He does bark at noises.
