Smitty is an approx one year old lowrider Shepherd mix weighing around 35lb.
The aptly-named “Smitty” is a short stack of pancakes with a medium energy level and he is looking for a foster or adopter home right away!

Smitty is a cuddly, curious boy who loves attention and spending time outside. He loves bones, his favorite squeaky pig and could keep himself entertained all day with a good bone to chew on!
While Smitty seems to love kids and giving them kisses, their sudden movements scare him so Smitty is seeking a home without children!

There is SO much personality packed into this little short stack! He is an amazing dog and will thrive in a home where he can lounge in the sun, go for walks and play with his toys. He is a very smart dog with medium energy and has come a long way with his training since being rescued. During his foster time he has learned how to live in a house, is fully house trained and knows his basic commands. He naps on and off all day in-between walks and playing with his toys. He loves attention from his humans and will fall asleep anywhere, especially with a gentle head and foot massage.

He is currently working on his counter surfing and he is a good jumper, perhaps he would enjoy agility training? He is also learning walking manners with the use of a halter leash and is currently dog reactive but is improving with redirection and treats. He does not bark inside or outside the house other than at dogs while out walking and through the window until redirected with positive reinforcement and treats. He likes to check in with his humans and will settle in his bed with a chew bone. We are working on getting him used to his crate when left alone, as with many dogs this is important to get right. He would also do well with a puppy proof area that he feels safe in. With continued patience Smitty will learn he is safe at home by himself. He currently sleeps through the night between his humans bed and his own bed.

Smitty is the perfect size and would make an excellent, running mate or hiking partner with further training. He loves the car and tries to sit in the front but he is content to look through his window in the back seat with encouragement. He quietly and calmly greets humans in the home and while out walking. He does not jump but does like to put his paws up. Always excited to make new friends. We feel with the consistency of a permanent home he will only continue to do better as he has adjusted so quickly with his foster people and home. He enjoys his own company and is good at entertaining himself.

Smitty will need a foster or adopter who is willing to continue his training with walking, crate training and house manners. Being such a smart, curious puppy he will need engagement and stimulation. Smitty is an amazing dog and not falling in love with him is next to impossible, he is always so excited to see you, has learned so much already and accepts his humans unconditionally. With the right human or humans, consistency with his training and house manners he will continue to blossomSmitty will always be the perfect sized package of a cuddle buddy.

Adoption costs: $650.00
