Hi there! I’m Smitty — a smart, affectionate, and playful pup looking for a forever home filled with love, adventure, and plenty of belly rubs.
I thrive on human connection and love being around people. Whether it’s adults, kids, or new friends I meet on walks, I’m always ready for a friendly greeting (and a few pets, of course!). Cuddles are one of my favorite things, and I’ve been told I have a gentle, soft-hearted personality that makes me a natural snuggle buddy.
I get really enthusiastic when I see other dogs — it’s just my way of saying "hi!" While I can be a bit eager at first, I warm up quickly with the right introductions and enjoy making new dog friends. I’m more of a dog’s dog, though — I’d prefer a home without cats.
When it comes to training, I catch on fast. I know how to walk on a leash, and while I occasionally get excited when I see another dog or small animal, I’m learning to stay calm in those moments. I’m also crate-trained and manage short separations well, especially when I know someone’s home. I take a little help from medication to ease my separation anxiety — and I’m making great progress.
I’m a medium-energy dog, which means I love a good run (I make an awesome jogging partner!) but also know how to relax and enjoy quiet time. I do best with a bit of daily structure, but I’m also flexible and easygoing — the perfect combo for a road trip or a spontaneous day out.
With my long body, short legs, handsome face, big brown eyes, and a tail that never stops wagging, I tend to get a lot of attention during walks — and I love it! I’m goofy in the best way: playful without being pushy, and always up for a game of fetch or tug with my toys. I know to wait for an invite before jumping on furniture (though sometimes I get a little excited during my zoomies and forget).
House training? Got it down. I’m a creature of habit when it comes to doing my business, which helps keep things on schedule. I’m also a respectful eater — I love food of all kinds (meat, rice, dog food, treats — you name it!), but I don’t guard my bowl and I’ve learned to stay calm during mealtimes.
