Sherri is a real love button who seeks attention She can be scared of simple things like solar lights, books where they didn’t use to be, sound of a drill, thunder but once she is introduced to them there is no longer any problem. She wants to know what you have in your hands, what you are carrying. She is housetrained. She needs strong toys to play with and chew. Balls are her favorite and she can entertain herself but loves them being thrown for her. She is a strong powerful ball of energy when excited. She has been fostered with a cat and has shown no interest when a cat comes into the yard. She takes no interest in birds or squirrels. She is nonreactive to dogs barking next door. She has fantastic patience with a 4 lbs. very active Yorki cross. Because of her size and strength play with him is carefully monitored. She would probably love to play with dogs more her size and strength.

She gets excited when her halter and leash come out and at times need time to get “suited” up. She pulls and does need more work on leash manners. She politely greets other dogs on a walk. She is more of a 15-minute walker (typical of her breed) or a good run around in the backyard kind of girl. Sherri is very sensitive. She corrects easily and immediately with verbal commands. She knows sit very well. She now waits for her food but requires more work with this as well as other commands such as stay and down. She loves rides in the vehicle. Sleeps on the seat or travels in a wire kennel. In the house she is kennel trained (a larger wire one) but prefers to be loose in the house. She respects physical barriers. When playful she has taken shoes. She takes interest in garden tools, gloves, pails and what you are doing in the garden, then she lays close by. She would love to curl up with you on the couch when you watch tv or read a book. Sherri has had surgery for cherry eye and has been treated for ear infection. When first coming into care, Sherri demonstrated a wide range of vocalization sounds, but has quieted down substantially. She is a playful, loveable, sensitive girl that makes me laugh daily with her goofy antics. True to her breed she can be stubborn. She does respond to consistent direction. She will be a fantastic loyal best friend to someone.

Sherri arrived in Canada on June 17th from Solano California. She had been recently spayed and had surgery on both eyes to repair cherry eye. On arrival she was treated for a post-surgery eye infection and an ear infection.
