Special/Medical Needs: He has hip dysplasia and is currently on daily medication for it. He does drink excessive amounts of water, but we do think that this is due to his daily medication. His water intake does need to be monitored.

Vernon is a very sweet and gentle soul. He is laidback and would enjoy an easy-going home. Vernon came from a kill-shelter in Bakersfield, California where he was well liked by the staff and taught other pups how to play. Vernon likes other dogs and puppies and plays nicely. We recommend a confident owner who is willing to continue training though as he can be reactive/excitable when he sees other dogs and animals on walks. He can also be unsure in new situations but has become more trusting and has been improving a lot. Vernon is very smart and learns new things quickly so with regular training we believe he can continue to improve. Currently, he is in a foster home with an energetic dog and Vernon is super patient and plays nicely with him. Vernon would likely do best as the only dog in the home as he does not like to share toys with other dogs, however, he is not possessive of food. Overall, Vernon is a very loyal companion who just needs a loving and easy-going home.
