Good with dogs?: Laika is very easy going and respectful of other dogs. She is also playful and would do well with another dog who is playful but not too rough.
Good with cats?: Yes - she is interested in my cat and will follow her around, but has not chased or been too forward with her
Good with children?: Yes. She is very sweet natured so I would expect her to be good around children who are respectful
Special/Medical Needs: May have allergies - currently on a food trial and medication for itching. May have mild cataracts as she does not like going downstairs in the dark but is ok during the daytime. Has some hind end weakness which may be age related but could possibly improve with more exercise. She is still slightly underweight but lately she has put on weight and it is helping make her hind legs stronger.
Energy Level: Low in the house but loves to go on walks. Excellent energy on walks and can easily keep up with the other dogs on a 30-40 min walk

Laika has been a great house-guest so far! She is extremely gentle and well-natured. She loves to lay around and sleep during the day, but also loves to go out on walks and has excellent energy on her walks. She walks well on the leash and does not pull. She has shown no leash reactivity when passing other dogs on the street. She is also playful, likes to run after a ball, and is interested in playing with the other dogs in the house.

Laika shows a little weakness in the hind end when getting up, which may be age related. She does not seem to have any other mobility issues. She is slightly nervous going down hardwood stairs and prefers carpeted stairs. Recently she has been much more confident with going up and down the stairs. She may have mild cataracts as she does not like to go down stairs in the dark.

Laika would be a perfect pet for someone who is moderately active, likes to get out and also enjoys relaxing in the house. She would also do well with another dog who is playful but not too rough. She would also likely do well as an only
Laika came in from a high-kill shelter in Bakersfield California. She was brought in from a hoarding situation. She's the perfect balance between couch potato and playful. She already knows basic commands, is well-mannered, and is sweet as can be.
